Special request

Am looking for a copy of The Great Good Thing by Rod Townley - have had it on reserve at the library for 6 months but they rang yesterday to inform me their copy has gone "missing"

I have the next 2 books in the series and would love to be able to re-read the first one. If anyone would be able to lend me a copy or point out where i can get hold of one, i'd be eternally grateful!

The Divide

The Divide - Elizabeth Kay

Felix is a special sort of hero. He is brave and resourceful, but has a heart condition that threatens his life. His parents take him on holiday to Costa Rica, where they visit the Divide, a place where the waters that run down to the Pacific and Atlantic oceans separate. But at this exact, magical spot Felix faints, and when he opens his eyes, he discovers he's arrived in an amazing back-to-front world where mythical creatures and magic are real, and humans and science are just rumour and legend. Luckily, Ironclaw, a fearsome, but kindly brazzle(griffin) takes him under his wing, and together with Bettony, a tangle-girl(elf), they set out to find a cure for Felix's condition and the way back home. And so begins a journey beyond their wildest dreams. I love the dragons (fire-breathers) that are used as airplanes!

Dark Matter

Dark Matter - Greg Iles

Also known as 'The Footprints of God' in the US

For years, the Holy Grail of Artificial Intelligence has been to devise a computer with the capability to think like a human. And it seems as if that day might finally have arrived.

David Tennant is a frightened man indeed. He is the doctor assigned by the president to be in charge of ethical considerations surrounding Project Trinity, a top secret research program which, if it succeeds in its aims, will quickly revolutionize the world.

However, there are worrying things going on in the depths of Trinity, things that have implications far beyond Tennant and his colleagues' increasing string of health problems. Then, the leading scientist - and Tennants' close friend - Andrew Fielding is found dead in his office, but though the doctor is certain it is murder, the authorities in charge designate a death of natural causes. Soon, the security agents and heads of Project Trinity turn on Tennant. He knows too much, is threatening to go public, to tell the president all, and they want him dead. So he goes on the run, taking Rachel Weiss, the psychiatrist probing the nightmares that have plagued him during his work at Trinity, with him.

Project Trinity, though, remains on course, but with the men in charge slowly turning on each other, when it reaches completion it could mean a greater danger than any of them have ever known before.

Another page-turning thriller from Iles, ensuring his place on my favourite author list.
